Instead of using adverbs, use verbs that carry descriptive power. Because they can almost immediately envision how much editing would be required to make those first couple of pages publishable. Having a tangible reminder of your true purpose is one of the best ways to motivate yourself, so think hard: Do you want to send an important message? Be true to your IQ. Reading books in your genre is by far the best way to learn how to write in that genre yourself. Whether it's a tricky plot hole, an onslaught of insecurity, or a simple lack of desire to write, all writers experience setbacks from time to time. The more your book can cater to this hypothetical reader, the easier it will be to sell!
